Scrappy Tails Crafts Holiday Collection & Instagram Hop

Happy Friday crafty friends! I'm sharing some very fun Christmas cards I've made with newly released products from Scrappy Tails Crafts.  There's also an Instagram Hop and giveaway happening today so if you'd like to check that out click here to get started.

I have a bunch of info and product links to share so let's jump right in to my first card which features the Layering Penguins Duo die set. This set includes dies to make two different styles of penguins. I have just used the one style and cloned it to make a boy and a girl penguin pair with mini pom pom ear muffs.

This card is A7 size (5"x7") and I've covered the front with some polka patterned paper. I used the new A7 Berry Branch cover die to create that fun pine and holly sprig frame.  I then blended some light blue ink onto an oval panel. This oval is what I used to spotlight the penguins. I added the Merry Christmas die cut which is included with the A7 Berry Branch set.

Next up are some very fun projects I've made with of the new Reindeer Add-on and boy/girl Elf Add-on. These die sets are intended to turn the A7 Pumpkin Pop Up Card into cute Christmas characters.  However I have an easy hack to use the dies to create stand alone characters that can be put on regular cards and tags. If you already have some circle punches or dies then you can make these!

In the photo above you can see how I've used the circles to create a face, partial body, and hands to which you can build the characters onto.  For the boy elf and reindeer, I've used a 2.5" circle for the faces.  I've used only a part of that same sized circle for the body.  For the girl elf, I found a 2.25" circle worked best for her face.  Then for the hands it's simply a 5/8" circle cut in half.

I have put the boy elf on a mini slimline card base.  The way I have assembled the elf, he measures 5.5" tall by 3.5" wide.  He's filled the card nicely so I didn't think there needed to be much else added except for the little sentiment which is included in the 6x8 Christmas Party stamp set

I added the girl elf to a 5.25" square card base. She measures 4.5" tall by 3.5" wide. Again her size fills the card well. Not much else needed besides a cute patterned paper background. snowflake sequins, and the sentiment.  I did use some vellum overtop the pattern paper so the elf stands out better.

I think this hack will work for any on the new Christmas Pumpkin Pop Up add-ons. Also keep in mind that each set has many options for building the characters such as different eye options and accessories so there are other versions of each character you can make.

Here's the reindeer on a large tag.  This is another great use for these characters if you like to make special tags for Christmas gifts. The reindeer measures 4.5" tall by 4" wide. With the Reindeer Add-on set there are dies to make a more feminine deer and open eyes if you prefer.

Really the sky is the limit for making these extra special little characters simply by using glitter or metallic card stock for some of the elements. Adding twine bows is a great embellishment.  And of course using little pom poms on the hat is always a fun addition.

I hope you'll check the Scrappy Tails Crafts shop and all fun new Christmas products.  If you have any questions, please drop them in the comment section below.  I'm happy to help, inspire, and enable anytime! ;)
