The countdown has begun! The Papertrey Ink October Release will be available on the 29th at 12pm ET and it's spectacular as always. There was one stand out product this month that I absolutely could not wait to use - the Build An Angel die set. This unique set includes dies to make a large and a medium size angel. The large measures 4.5 inches tall and the medium measures 3.75 inches tall. Both sizes have three different wing options.
For today's card sample, I have used the large size and as you can see, it filled my A2 size card nicely.
To start, I wanted to create a pretty background for the angel. I started with a panel of Mint Julep card stock. I inked up the panel with Pinefeather. I applied the Pinefeather ink heavy in the middle and lighter going outwards. Next I added tons of splatter with three different mediums. First I used plain water. This resulted in the larger droplet splatter. Then I used thinned white paint. And last I added more splatters with metallic gold water color.
Next I die cut and assembled the angel. I die cut the angel body from white card stock and lightly sprayed it with the new Antique Linen Distress Spitz. This color gives the white card stock a lovely gold toned shimmer. It's difficult to see in the photo, but in person it's so pretty!
I die cut the halo from gold metallic card stock and the wings are gold vellum layered onto white.
The sentiment plus little foliage sprigs and berries come from a new stamp set this month. It's called The Bigs Christmas Sentiments and as the name implies, the set is full of large sized holiday greetings. This set includes lots of little sprigs and the berries for embellishment. There are also coordinating dies to cut them all out which I love! I stamped the "peace and joy" using Pinefeather. Using the coordinating die, I was able to die cut the stamped greeting and then die cut a shadow layer in gold.
