Honey Bee Stamps - Lovely Layers Christmas Card

Hello friends! Anyone else still hustling to get their Christmas cards done? I certainly am! I have one to share today that features many die cut elements. If you still need to make a bunch of holiday cards, this design would be quick and easy to mass produce.

Hello Bluebird - Winter Release Cards

Happy Holidays everyone! I've been busy working with the latest Hello Bluebird release and wanted to share a few cards I've finished.  This release is packed with super adorable stamp sets and dies for creating winter themed projects, however I did manage to use one of the sets for a Christmas card.

First up is a winter themed slimline card featuring Snow Day and the Winter Walk Scene die.  I decided to use soft pinks and greens for this scene.  This card could easily be used as Christmas card simply by adding a holiday greeting.

I started by die cutting the Winter Walk Scene out of white card stock.  I used Distress Oxide Inks to add color and shading to the pieces.  I used a combination of Bundled Sage and Cracked Pistachio for the sky.  The mountains are 3 layers of ink.  First a light coat of Worn Lipstick.  Then I applied a light layer of Walnut Stain.  Lastly I blended on a heavy coat of Pumice Stone. This triple layer of Oxide inks give the mountains a lovely soft brown tint.  The snow drifts and mountain tops are shaded with a dusting of Speckled Egg.
Copics used to color the stamped images are listed below.
  • bear - E40, E41, E42, R00, R20, R21, G43, G46
  • hedgehog - E70, E71, E74, E77, E41, E42, R00, R20, G40, G43, G46
  • squirrel - E30, E31, E35, E40, R00, R20, R22
  • owl - E70, E71, E74, E40, YR20, YR21, R00, G40, G46
  • bunny - W0, W1, W4, R00, R20, R21, G43
  • fox -  E11, E13, E15, E40, R00, G40, G43

For this next card, I have used Feed the Birds to create a thank you card.  Again, by changing the greeting, I think this card could be used for holiday or other occasions.  I also tried out a new to me color combo with lavender and navy.

I didn't want to detract from the colors on the images so I chose to use a neutral kraft background.  I frosted the outer edges of the kraft panel with white pigment ink and then gave it a generous splatting of white paint.  I die cut the trees and snow drifts with Winter Woods Overlay die.

Copics used to color the images are listed below.

  • squirrel - W0, W1, E40, E41, R00, R20
  • birds - E40, E41, E43, E44, R00, R20
  • seeds and bag - E40, E43, W0, W1
  • lavender color on birdhouse & clothes - V91, V93, V95
  • navy on clothes, scarf, & hat - BV23, BV25, BV17
  • white area shading - C0, C1, C3
  • snow on birdhouse - B0000, B000
  • girl's skin tones - E000, E00, E02,
  • girl's hair - E30, E31, E34

For this last card, I used the Long Distance stamp set to create Christmas card.  I really struggle with making masculine cards especially for Christmas.  My goal with this card design was keeping it very classic so I could use to give to my Dad or brother.

I started with a simple red and black check background.  I stamped the gingham with black ink onto red card stock.  I used the Country Gingham stamp for this. It's my all time favorite background stamp.  It's out of stock at Hello Bluebird right now, but I'm hoping they will bring it back for 2021.

I then colored a die cut oval with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink and splattered with white paint.  I added little clusters of die cut Pine Boughs. Next I added the squirrels and tree branches from Long Distance.  I stamped the sentiment also from Long Distance.  To customize this card for the holidays, I added the Merry Christmas.  This stamp is from Merry Pigs.  To complete this design, I added some twine to connect the cans.

Copics used to color the images are listed below.
  • squirrels - E30, E31, E35, W1, YR30, R00, R20
  • cans - C1, C3
  • branches - E41, E43

MFT December Release - Joyful Giraffe Slimline Card

Hello everyone! I'm excited to be sharing a card featuring some of the brand new Die-namics from My Favorite Things December Release.  I instantly thought slimline design when I saw the Joyful Giraffe and Sending Big Hugs Die-namics.  They are a fun size and fill the space of a slimline card easily.

I created a rainbow panel to die cut Sending Big Hugs.  I used the following Distress Oxides: Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, & Blueprint Sketch.

What's nice about the Sending Big Hugs Die-namics, is that you can use the positive and negative pieces.  As you can see below, I will be able to make another card with the leftover rainbow panel.

This slimline design is pretty straight forward.  Just die cut and assemble.  There's a sentiment set that perfectly coordinates with the Joyful Giraffe called Giraffe Greetings.  So I added a little stamped sentiment strip at the top of the card.

Honey Bee Stamps - Holiday Cheer Coffee Cup Cards

Hello friends! I'm sharing some festive coffee cup shaped cards today.  I have several coffee drinkers in my family so these will come in handy. I will be enclosing a coffee shop gift card in each one.  The Coffee Cup Card Honey Cuts is one of my favorite Honey Bee die cut sets of all time. These cup shaped cards can easily be customized for any holiday or occasion with patterned paper.

I have dressed up my cards using pretty papers from the Holiday Cheer pad. There's some fun festive prints in the this paper pad. There's even a pre printed sheet of sentiment strips that you can cut up and use as tags.

To embellish the cups, I used the Country Christmas Wreath Honey Cuts. This die set has many little shapes that are the perfect size for adding to the center of the cup sleeve.
